Bad bad bad

Well, I have no excuse!  I'm getting used to this blog thing but one thing I do know is that I'm horrible!  Forgive me as I try to get better posting!!!
So I hate getting prescriptions filled.  Our family does it A LOT!  It makes me sick how much we actually spend on prescription medication each year.  Also, when you spend as much time as the pharmacy as I do, I think the pharmacist and techs begin to feel bad with how much money you spend.  Anyway I have found a few ways to help save some money.

1.  Before you go to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription (especially newer ones), Google the prescription.  Look for the website for the prescription and try to find a coupon.  Today I picked up drops for my son.  My insurance price for the prescription was $152.46.  After I went to the website for the prescription (in this case Vigamax), I added my email and name and they instantly sent me a coupon.  It took the prescription down to $75.00.  It could be more based on your insurance.  I'll take any savings!  Just a side note, I tried to retrieve the email on my phone but it would not come up, I had to pull it up from a computer connected to a printer.

2.  Goodrx-  My son's doctor told me about this app.  You can download it onto your phone.  You can search the prescription name or the condition.  It will then pull up the cost of that prescription at all pharmacies near you. It actually has coupons attached you just show the pharmacist to get that price. You can also see images, look at information, etc about the prescription.  Here's an image of the app for Goodrx.  I just downloaded it my App Store.

If I find anymore tips, I'll let you know!
